Members of the faith who are not full-time paid clergy, or not ordained clergy, but who perform the same or similar function. Lay ministers also include those who have a more professional role in the Church, such as Youth Minister and RCIA coordinator.

Members of the faith who assists the priest in administering the sacraments of holy communion, the consecrated bread and wine. They may also take the sacraments to those who are ill, or otherwise unable to attend Mass.

Members of the faith charged with care of the sacristy, the church, and their contents. These members are the sextons of a parish church.

Members of the faith who attends to supporting tasks at the altar. An alter server lay assistance to a member of the clergy during a Christian liturgy.

Members of the faith who are instituted to proclaim the readings from the Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. A lector may also announce the notices for the parish church.

Members of the faith whose primary responsibility is to lead both the choir and congregational music for the parish church.

Members of the faith who hold a class held on Sundays to teach children about Christianity.

Members of the faith who teach the faith of the catholic church by both word and example. More so a catechist teaches the essentials of Christian faith and morals.
